Meaing: Unless one becomes the slave(gulama) of his Guru, no there is chance of deliverance (mukuti)
What is the good of reading(Odi) various (pari pari) shastras, and wasting(vyartha) devotion(bhakuti) (i.e. reading without devotion)

What if one has read 6 shastras, and what if a few puranas(muraru i.e 3-6) have been digested(mugisu), what it if without associating with noble persons goes about (tirugi) thinking he is a brave soul(dhira).

What if a garland is worn around the neck, what if the prayer beads are turned(tiruhi) in the fingers, and what if one repeatedly (marali marali) rolls (horali) in the ash (budiyolu) and goes about like a mad man (marulanante).

What if pleasure of woman is given up, what if all pleasurable things are stopped (bidisi), (none of these work) till one gets (padeyuva) mara janaka purandaravithala.
